First off, you may ask: What the hell does Mill City have to do with Minneapolis?

Well we take our name from an old nickname that was given to Minneapolis back in 1880, long, long before Minneapolis was known for a great music scene. For about a 50-year period of time Minneapolis was known around the world as "Mill City," because it was home to the largest flour milling industry in the world. While many of the old mills are gone, you still see some of the last survivors in downtown Minneapolis just off of Second Street South along the river.

So we figured we would take that lesser-known nickname from our history, put it into a modern context and create a website that brings you all the information you may need about the growing hip-hop scene in Minneapolis. Because while the flour industry may have dwindled, our metro area is "milling" out more innovative hip-hop than most other cities in the country. We cover all the information you will need about the big players, the up-and-comers, and even the unkowns, through feature articles, interviews, an artist directory, videos and much more.

Best of all we offer you the opportunity to get involved. If there is an artist we are missing out on, something you feel needs to be written about, or a show that we don't have on our calendar, we want you to let us know. Why? • And probably most of all expose you, the listener, to all the great elements of hip-hop culture that Minneapolis has to offer, to find that new artist that you dig, learn more about your current favorites, and to provide you with all the information you need to become an active player in the hip-hop community.
